Streaming

We offer various solutions through which you can stream media to your users. Each solution provides a different combination of capabilities and features through which you can stream audio/video to your users. Use the following table to find the solution(s) that best fit your needs.

Solution Platform Live StreamingIndicates the capacity to stream a live event as it occurs. On-Demand StreamingIndicates the capacity to stream media as it is requested. Dynamic StreamingIndicates that it has the capability to broadcast multiple streams of varying quality. This allows each client's media player to intelligently and dynamically choose the stream that best matches the client's available bandwidth and CPU processing power. Features Supported Media Players

Dynamic Cloud PackagingThis streaming solution facilitates HLS and/or MPEG-DASH playback of live or on-demand content. A live stream may be pushed to this service via RTMP.

HTTP Large

PushAn encoder must push a live stream over RTMP to the closest CDN publishing point location.

Limited Support for Token-Based AuthenticationThe Token-Based Authentication feature enforces authentication prior to content delivery. Authentication takes place via an encoded token value that must be included in the request URL. This token value is then decrypted on an edge server. The requested content will only be delivered when the user meets the requirement(s) defined in the token.

Country FilteringThis feature restricts access according to the country from which content was requested.

Standard HLS and DASH players.

HTTP Progressive DownloadThis solution streams content using progressive streaming. This means that a media player will request media in a progressive sequence from start to finish. Normally, this would prevent a user from jumping ahead (i.e., seeking) to a position in the video that has not yet been downloaded. However, our technology allows this capability under certain circumstances.

Bandwidth ThrottlingLimits the rate at which content can be downloaded.

Country FilteringThis feature restricts access according to the country from which content was requested.

AllThis solution is compatible with any media player that supports the requested media format (e.g., flv, mp4, mov, etc.).

In addition to the above solutions, a streaming server can stream multimedia over HTTP via the CDN's HTTP Large platform. Placing the CDN between a media player and a streaming server leverages the CDN's delivery performance while retaining your custom streaming setup.

Reports & Analytics

Reports and analytics for streaming activity may be generated from the Analytics. The platform (i.e., HTTP Large) over which media is streamed determines the applicable set of reports for that streaming solution.

HTTP Large reports contain data for media streamed over HTTP as well as standard traffic on the HTTP Large platform.
